Sometimes you want to change a knife, not just sharpen it. Maybe the angle is wrong for how you cut, or you want a different edge style, or a damaged blade needs a full reshape. Custom knife grind in Portland does that. We reprofile the bevel, change the grind, or reshape the blade to do exactly what you want.
We can set a new edge angle, convert between grind styles, fix an edge that someone sharpened wrong, or reshape a blade after damage. This is heavier work than a normal sharpening, since we are removing real steel and changing the blade. We talk through what you want first, then do the work by hand and finish with a sharp, clean edge. If your knife just feels thick, our knife thinning may be all you need.
Custom knife grind work starts at $10 and depends on how much reshaping the blade needs. A small angle change is quick. A full regrind takes more time. Bring the knife in and tell us what you are after, and we will give you a price before we start.
