Sharpening Service
A dull hunting knife makes a hard job harder, and out in the field it can be dangerous. When you are field dressing an animal miles from the truck, you need an edge you can trust. Hunting knife sharpening in Portland gets your blade ready before the season. We sharpen fixed blades, folding hunters, and gut hooks, all matched to the right angle for the work.
We sharpen every kind of hunting knife. Drop-point and clip-point fixed blades, folding hunters, caping knives, and skinners all come through. Gut hooks need a special touch to sharpen the inside curve, and we handle those too. We set the angle for clean work on field dressing, skinning, and deboning. A knife that came back from us last fall can come back again before this one.
The best time to sharpen a hunting knife is before the trip, not after you find out it is dull. We see a rush every fall as folks get ready to head out to the Coast Range, the Cascades, and over to Eastern Oregon. Bring your knife in early so it is sharp and waiting when the season opens. A sharp blade means cleaner cuts and less effort when it counts.
Field work is tough on an edge, so we set a durable, sharp edge that holds up to bone, hide, and long days. We sharpen by hand, the slow way, so we do not overheat the steel or grind away more than we need to. Your knife keeps its life and its edge, season after season.
Hunting knife sharpening is $10. Gut hooks are included. If your blade is chipped from hitting bone, we can repair it, and we will give you the price before we start. Bring your knife in before your trip and it will be ready when you are.
Yes. We sharpen the gut hook and the main edge together, setting the inside curve by hand.
Before your trip. We get a rush every fall, so a week or two ahead of the season is smart.
